Kampala Queens had to play out of their skins to beat a resilient Olila High School 1-0 on Tuesday at IUIU Kabojja grounds to stay level on 38 points with She Corporates in the race for the FUFA Women's Super League title.

Resty Nanziri scored the all-important goal that brought in the 73rd minute after an error by Olila High School goalkeeper Esther Okello who after catching the ball from Shamirah Nalugya's free-kick, let it slip through her hands and Nanziri tapped in to give her side the lead.

Kampala Queens as expected, dominated possession but Olila were disciplined at the back commanded by Cecilia Apiding and their captain Marion Amangat who did not allow Nalugya and Margaret Kunihira any freedom to feed their forwards Zainah Nandede and Nanziri.

It was a well-balanced affair until that second-half mistake by Okello that made the difference.

Kampala Queens' head coach Hamuza Lutalo was pleased with the fighting spirit his side showed until they got the winning goal.

He also called for a better performance than Tuesdays if they're are to beat She Corporates and become champions.

"I am happy with the three points because that is all that matters for now because we are level with She Corporates and the only way to become champions is by beating them in our final game," Lutalo said.

"Our performance surely has been so poor today because Olila could have taken a point and they deserved it because they played well."

Olila High School's Sam Pande was satisfied with her side's performance given that they were fatigued due to frequent travels from Soroti to Kampala for away games.

"I am super proud of the girls who played so well despite being fatigued. Unlike Kampala teams which don't usually make long trips upcountry, for us, we travel for away games from Soroti and there is no time to rest," said Pande.

She Corporates also registered a hard-fought 1 - 0 win away against Tooro Queens 1-0 in FortPortal City thanks to Alomo Whisper's first-half goal.

As it stands, She Corporates are on top of the table with 38 points same as second-placed Kampala Queens but only separated by a goal difference of one.

The two sides are set to meet on Friday at Makerere University Business School grounds in Nakawa for the final game of the season where the home side She Corporates needs to avoid defeat to be champions whereas Kampala Queens must win to be champions.
