They revealed that the trailer was coming from Kampala heading to Jinja and when it reached Kitigoma near the tea estate in Najjembe division in Buikwe district, the bags of cement started falling from the trailer when it was in motion which caused the area to be full of dust.

Lucas Omondi Sabato, the driver of trailer registration number KCZ043C with its carrier number ZD2365C which also got involved in the accident explained that he was coming from Jinja heading to Kampala but when he reached the sugarcane plantation he reduced the speed since he was not seeing where he was heading.

He added that after reducing the speed he heard a loud bang behind his vehicle and when he parked he noticed that he had been knocked by a speeding trailer registration number KBS040L/ ZD9612D which was also coming from Jinja heading to Kampala.

Police reached the scene with other people to rescue the casualties but the people instead started robbing the cement from the trailer.

The Ssezibwa region police spokesperson Hellen Butoto confirmed the accident. Butoto explained that two people died on spot and the deceased were all in a trailer registration number KBS040L with its carrier ZD9612D which was coming from Jinja heading to Kampala.

The deceased were identified as Sande Jumah, 39, a driver of the trailer, and his turn man Omondi Ogoro.

The dead bodies were taken to Kawolo hospital and the wreckage was towed to Mabira police station as investigations proceed.
