Mutebile’s cortege arrives Tuesday

There will then be an official funeral at Kololo Independence Grounds starting at 10:00 am and the body will either be flown to Kabale over the weekend.

The late Mutebile who was the longest-serving governor will be accorded a state burial.

MUTEBILE | DEATH | BURIAL 

KAMPALA - The cortege of former Governor Bank of Uganda, Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, who died on Sunday in a Nairobi hospital will arrive in the country today (Tuesday January 25, 2022).

There will be a vigil at the deceased’s home in Kololo on Wednesday evening and then a session in Parliament on Thursday starting at 10:00 am. 

There will then be an official funeral at Kololo Independence Grounds starting at 10:00 am and the body will either be flown to Kabale over the weekend.

On Monday Chris Baryomunsi the Minister for Information, Communication and Technology said the burial date of the deceased had been shifted from Monday, January 31, 2022, to Sunday, January 30, 2022.

“My condolences once again to the family of late Governor Prof Mutebile. The day of burial has changed from Monday as earlier communicated to Sunday starting at midday at Rugarama COU Cathedral in Kabale Municipality,” Baryomunsi said.

The committee in charge of the late Governors burial will however meet on Wednesday evening to further harmonize the program.

The late Mutebile who was the longest-serving governor will be accorded a state burial.
