KAMPALA - What a relief to Ugandans? The heat poured as Ugandans were ushered into the New Year.

The dry and hot desert winds from Sahara Desert were menacingly blowing life out of Ugandans.

The Ugandans’ prayers were answered over the weekend as the cool weather returned.

There was rain on Saturday and Monday in Kampala.

Now, the weekly weather forecast at Climate Center in Nairobi, ICPAC is predicting that the unbearable heat will keep at bay for another one week (18-25 January, 2022).

“Light rains of less than 30mm is expected in most parts of Uganda, South Sudan, southern and western Kenya, coastal Eritrea and northern Ethiopia,” said ICPAC in its most recent weather alert.

ICPAC works with national weather stations in the region including Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA).

UNMA’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Lillian Nkwenge said the December- February dry season continues despite the interruption by what she called off-season or isolated rains.
