The Senior Presidential press secretary, Linda Nabusayi Wamboka, has asked members of Kampala Ghetto Youth Ambassadors to be patient.

This comes after the leader of the youth group, Juma Senono, came to the New vision offices last week requesting President Yoweri Museveni to fulfil his promise of giving them sh2.5b.

He adds that money was to buy washing, fumigation and street cleaning machines that will help them earn a living.

Nabusayi said the President has been meeting youth irrespective of their party affiliations and has pledged to create jobs for them.

"The President has already created common user facilities in all the five divisions of Kampala. He has also facilitated skilling the girl child pilot project in Kampala which is due to be spread upcountry," she said adding that he has also been encouraging youth to mobilize themselves into SACCOs so that government can fund them.

Nabusayi added, "The amount of money to be given each SACCO is determined by their activities and membership. Disbursing funds is a process. They should not politicise this effort."

On December 27, 2020, President Museveni met with 236 head commanders of the youth group and promised to send them money through his principal private Secretary Dr. Kenneth Omona.

However, the group has waited in vain.

"When I contacted Dr. Omona, he assured me that the money will be disbursed in the first quarter of this year but this has not come to pass. Some of the group members have started accusing me of using the funds for my private work. I am humbly asking the president to fulfil his promise," said Senono.

Kampala Ghetto Youth Ambassador comprises 15,000 youth who come from five divisions of Kampala. The group is under Nakulabye Dry cleaners SACCO.

The youth group was formed in August 2019 during the presidential elections by youth who live in the ghettos of Kampala.
