Judiciary condemns murder of judge's guard

The Judiciary on Wednesday condemned the killing of Gideon Emuria a Police officer guarding the home of Justice Alex Ajiji.

Emuria was shot dead as he was reporting for duty in Soroti City on Tuesday evening at about 7:30 pm. 

A statement released by Judiciary indicated that at the time of the incident, the Judge was away in Nebbi.  

Emuria was on his way to the home of Ajiji where he has been guarding for the last two months, according to his colleague only identified as Emune who spoke to New Vision at the scene. 

The killers took off with the Policeman’s gun.

We have learnt of an unfortunate incident where an unidentified assailant attacked a Police Guard at the Judge's Residence in Soroti, grabbed his gun and shot him dead. The thug then whisked away with the gun. 

This scuffle happened near Hon. Justice Ajiji Alex Mackay's residence. The officer was reporting on duty for the night shift.  

At the time of the incident, the Judge was away in Nebbi. 

We however commiserate together with the family of the deceased Police Officer. 

The Police has commenced investigations into the incident, we shall endeavour to keep you updated.
