Duncan Mubiru aka Kikankane clinched his first National Rally Championship (NRC) title after finishing fourth in the MOSAC Jinja rally won by Ronald Sebuguzi on Saturday in Jinja.

Mubiru navigated by Musa Nsubuga in a Subaru GVB attributed the victory to patience and teamwork.

“I’m happy to win this title, and I dedicate it to my fans who encouraged me and have been there for me in the last fifteen years,” Mubiru said.

To win the championship, Mubiru beat the stiff opposition from Fred Busulwa and Omar Mayanja, who finished second and third respectively in the NRC.

Sebuguzi wins the Jinja MOSAC Rally 

Meanwhile, Ronald Sebuguzi won the Jinja rally after posting a total time loss of an hour 32.46 minutes, finishing ahead of Omar Mayanja who posted a total time loss of an hour, 34.53 minutes to finish in the second position. Fred Busulwa finished third, while Mubiru was fourth followed by Peter Busingye and Dr. Godfrey Nsereko in fifth and sixth positions respectively.

The UMOSPOC driver said he was happy to win an event this year and plans to win the national rally championship next year.

Rajiv injures fans

Meanwhile, Rajiv Ruparelia dropped out of the event in the second stage after losing control and injuring fans together with his navigator Enock Olinga.

Olinga was rushed to the hospital, but later doctors after examinations discharged him.

“I’m ok. I cannot tell what happened because my focus was on my pace notes. Doctors did all the examinations and we are okay,” Olinga told Vision Sports.

The fans overpowered the security, and the Magamaga stage was later canceled.
