Forward Eric Kambale’s goal ensured that the Red Eagles picked up their first home league win following a 1-0 win over a resilient Wakiso Giants side on Friday at Wankulukuku Stadium.

Kambale scored from the spot in the 34th minute after Martin Kizza had been fouled by Wakiso Giants' Fahad Kawooya.

This penalty was hugely contested by Wakiso Giants players saying that Kawooya had no contact with Kizza but centre referee Muzamiru Waiswa maintained the decision.

The reigning champions had played three games this season at home, losing to new entrants Arua Hill SC and drawing with SC Villa and Vipers.

There was a worry for Express on how they would negotiate an in-form Wakiso Giants side which had won four games in a row but Bbosa's charges found a way and got the important win.

Express saw most of the ball in the first half and created most of the chances but Wakiso Giants' defence commanded by an experienced Fahad Kawooya alongside Hassan Wasswa contained them.

Godfrey Lwesibawa, Kizza, and Kambale ensured that Wakiso Giants' defenders had a busy day at the office as they led all Express's attacks.

The second half saw Alex Gita's coached side return with more energy and purpose.

Ibrahim Kasule, Ivan Bogere, Frank Ssebuufu leading Wakiso's attack put pressure on Express defenders pressing for an equaliser but the experience of Murushid Juuko and Enock Walusimbi prevented any danger from reaching their goalkeeper Denis Otim who started for the first choice Joel Mutakubwa.

The victory saw Express move sixth on the log with 11 points, one below fourth-placed Wakiso Giants. KCCA are top with 19 points.
