Fred Amaku's first-half goal was enough to seal three points for Maroons FC as they beat Proline FC 0-1 away at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo on Thursday.

The left-footed forward capitalised on the laziness in the Proline defence after receiving a fine ball from Emmanuel Olinga on the edge of the box to put it emphatically past Shatif Magoola who started in goal for Proline.

After the match, Amaku said as a Club their mission was to return to the Uganda Premier League.

"'Everyone at the club is well aware of our mission which is to bring Maroons back into the topflight. As a striker, I want to keep scoring goals because without them. You can't win games.' said Amaku.

The Luzira based club came determined to take home the three points as they saw plenty of the ball and created multiple chances than their hosts who were missing a couple of first-team players, according to head coach Anthony Bongole.

Maroons were the better side in both halves and Proline only attempted to trouble Emmanuel Akol in goal in the final 20 minutes of the game but all their efforts were comfortably dealt with by Maroons' defenders Kitagenda Godwin and Okello Maxwell and the goalkeeper.

Proline's best chances fell to Hakim Kiwanuka and Alpha Ssali but they all weren't clinical to find the back of the net.

Maroons head coach Mohammed Ssenfuma was delighted with how his players played to instructions and got the job done.

"Proline plays a similar kind of football like ours, we prepared for them and I am happy that the boys played to instructions and we got the three points which we came for," remarked Ssebuufu.

The victory takes Maroons to four points from two games having drawn the first one 0-0 with Calvary FC at Luzira Prisons grounds.

Elsewhere Nyamityobora FC managed to salvage a point away at Kataka FC with captain Clinton Kamugisha equalising late in the second half to make it 1-1.

Kyetume FC who were 3-1 winners over Luwero United in their opening game couldn't do the same against Kitara FC as the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw.

Blacks Power FC and Ndejje University each recorded big victories over MYDA FC and Calvary FC.

Action resumes on Sunday for Matchday three with Maroons hosting Ndejje University, Proline takes on Kataka, MYDA welcome Kyetume FC, Nyamityobora battles Luwero United and Calvary faces Blacks Power FC.
