Uganda exported 486,534 60 Kilo bags of coffee last month

The report indicated that Coffee exports for 12 months (November 2020-October 2021) totalled 6.55 million bags worth $657.23 million.

A total of 486,534 60kg bags of coffee valued at $61.43 million (sh216b) were exported in October 2021 at an average weighted price of $2.10 /kilo.

KAMPALA - A total of 486,534 60kg bags of coffee valued at $61.43 million (sh216b) were exported in October 2021 at an average weighted price of $2.10 /kilo.

According to the monthly coffee report by the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA), this was higher than $ 1.90 /kilo in September 2021 and 60 cents higher than $ 1.50/kilo in October 2020. 

"This was an increase of 14% and 60% in quantity and value respectively compared to the same month last year," UCDA noted in its Report.

Farm-gate prices for Robusta Kiboko averaged sh2,650 per kilo; FAQ sh 5,200 per kilo, Arabica parchment sh 8,750 per kilo and Drugar sh8,250 per kilo.

The report indicated that Coffee exports for 12 months (November 2020-October 2021) totalled 6.55 million bags worth $657.23 million compared to 5.41 million bags worth $ 513.79 million the previous year (November 2019-October 2020). 

This represents an increase of 21% and 28% in both quantity and value respectively.

81% of the total volume was exported by 10 exporters, out of 43 companies that performed during the month compared to 83% in September 2021.

"Wugar fetched the highest price at $ 4.44 per kilo.The ICO Composite Indicator price increased by 6.8% to 181.57 US cents/lb. in October 2021 from US cents/lb. 170.02 US cents/lb. in September 2021," read the report.
