Finance ministry permanent secretary Ramathan Ggoobi has called upon Ugandans to take advantage of the available vaccines in the country to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

He made the appeal on Saturday while inspecting the progress of construction works on the new National Medical Stores (NMS) warehouse in Kajjansi, Wakiso district.

Ggoobi and his top technical team at the ministry were taken around the new warehouse by NMS board chairman Dr Jotham Musinguzi and general manager Moses Kamabare.

They also toured the warehouse at Entebbe where Ggoobi also thanked NMS for delivering medical supplies up to the last mile.

The Ministry of Health has revealed that a total of 3,119,651 people have so far been vaccinated against coronavirus.

President Yoweri Museveni said in his national address on October 28 that by the end of December 2021, more than 12 million Ugandans should have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The President noted that by the end of December, Uganda will have received 23 million doses of vaccines and that the country will be fully opened up in January whether people go for vaccination or not.
