Champions Express started their title defence with an embarrassing upset on Friday as newly promoted Arua Hill won 2-0 at Wankulukuku stadium.

Express had the better first-half chances. Eric Kambale and George Senkaaba missed several clear-cut chances before Arua Hill took the lead through Robert Eseru with 62 minutes played.

Substitute Rashid Kawawa doubled the lead following good buildup play by substitute another Samuel Ssekamate and Alfred Leku to condemn Express to their first home loss of the season.

Express who will be away to UPDF next Saturday didn't lose any game at home last season, while Arua Hill host Onduparaka in a West Nile derby on October 26.

Elsewhere, Mbarara City crushed Bright Stars FC 3-1 at Kakyeka Stadium with goals from Nelson Ssenkatuka, Karim Ramathan, Henry Kitegenyi, and Solomon Okwalinga.

Onduparaka FC and UPDF FC settled for a 1-1 draw at Ababet Greenlight Stadium in Arua. Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored for the army side, while Richard Agau netted for the caterpillars.

The league resumes on Sunday with Police hosting Vipers at Lugogo and Wakiso Giants taking on KCCA FC.
