Police officer held over defilement in Yumbe

The police in Yumbe are holding their colleague over allegations of defilement.
 
Alicemari Kamure, 32-year-old, working in the department of health unit at Yumbe police health centre II, is accused of defiling a 16-year-old on September 30, 2021.

It is alleged that the Primary six pupil had gone for health services at the centre when the incident happened.  

Captain Buga Matata Yassin, the Resident District Commissioner Yumbe confirmed the incident, saying the perpetrator is arrested and detained at Yumbe Central police station.
 
"My office is doing all it takes to ensure that the perpetrator faces the law," he said.
 
He added that the girl was taken to Arua for further examination.
 
Buga also said that the perpetrator will be produced to court on Wednesday next week.
