Msgr. Kyabukasa to be buried at Bukalasa on Saturday
The Catholic Church has released the programme of the burial of Msgr. Henry Kyabukasa, a Prelate of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Masaka who died at Villa-Maria Hospital (in Kalungu district) on Wednesday (October 6). He was 92 years old.
According to Fr. Ronald Mayanja, the Social Communications Director of the diocese, Kyabukasa will be buried at Bukalasa Seminary on Saturday (October 9). The funeral activities will start with a requiem mass at 11:00 am.

Kyabukasa was the younger brother of Bro. Aidan Mulabannaku (the first African headteacher of St. Henry’s College Kitovu) and Emmanuel Cardinal Dr. Wamala, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala.

Kyabukasa’s Factifile
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Kyabukasa was born in 1929 at Kamaggwa, Masaka, to the late Cosma Kyamera and Tereza Namayanja.
He attended Kaliisizo PS, and Manyama Vernacular School (up to P3).
In 1944, he joined Holy Family Minor Seminary Bukalasa (in Kalungu).

In 1951, he joined Katigondo Grand National Major Seminary, where he studied Philosophy and Theology.
The late Archbishop Dr. Joseph Kiwanuka ordained him a priest in 1959. He was then appointed curate of Nkoni parish. After just 4 months, Kiwanuka sent Kyabukasa to Makerere University to do a course in English, History, and Mathematics.
In 1962, Kiwanuka sent Kyabukasa to Oxford University, where he did a degree in English and History. Upon his return, in 1962, he taught briefly at St. Henry’s College Kitovu. In 1963, he was appointed to Bukalasa Minor Seminary, where he lived until his demise.
