KAMPALA - Police in Kampala is holding four more people suspected to be part of the panga-wielding assailants who have been terrorising parts of the greater Masaka area.

The suspects were arrested from Makidye division in Kampala.

The police say the four are part of those who were allegedly hired to execute killings in different areas.

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson, Fred Enanga declined to reveal the identities and details of the suspects, saying this would jeopardize police investigations.

He said the suspects were tracked down through police’s expansive investigations and are continuing to follow different leads to arrest the other suspects who are still at large.

He noted that the suspects are also helping police in their investigations.

“We shall later transfer them to Masaka to be arraigned in court to be charged,” he noted.

The joint task security team has so far arrested 78 suspects in connection with the murders in Lwengo and Masaka killing.

Out of these, about 14 people have already been charged in court. According to official police reports, 26 were murdered by the panga-wielding gang since July 21, 2021.
