BUDGET | CONFERENCE | AGRICULTURE 

KAMPALA - This year’s national budget conference will focus on short term strategies for recovery such as widespread vaccination, boosting aggregate demand and credit relief. 

Discussions will also be centred around medium and long term strategies including Industrialization & increasing productivity in agriculture, according to Apollo Munghinda, the principal communications officer, ministry of finance, planning and economic development. 

The national budget conference for the financial year 2022/23 is scheduled to take place on Thursday (September 9, 2021), at Kololo Independence Grounds under the theme: Industrialisation for Inclusive Growth Employment and Wealth Creation. 

While meeting development partners at a pre-budget meeting the finance ministry permanent secretary Ramathan Ggoobi said they want the budget to continue being compliant to targets agreed under the International Monetary Fund-supported program. 

“They also want increased funding for human capital development and agricultural productivity,” he said adding that he has already consulted with permanent secretaries on this budget strategy," Ggoobi said.
