Kiira Motors voted African Company of the year 2021

Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) Uganda has been voted the African Company of the year 2021 following several developments registered by the company.

KMC won the African Business Leadership Awards 2021 after beating three other companies in a hotly-contested competition. 

KMC contested with; Trade Kings Zambia, Vodafone Ghana, and Maroc Telecoms of Morocco.

“This award recognises companies who have made a mark in their industry sectors through uncommon customer service, innovative products offering, community impact or technological offering, and concrete societal impact,” a statement from African Business Leadership Awards.

Today, New Vision reported that Kiira Motors is to build 170 buses per month. 

The development comes after the Government of Uganda, acting through the Uganda Investment Authority, allocated 100 acres of land for the establishment of the Kiira Vehicle Plant in Jinja district.

Located in Jinja Industrial and Business Park at Kagogwa village, Mawoito parish, Kakira town council in Jinja, the Kiira Vehicle Plant site development has been planned to take place in phases.

“The detailed design specifications and Bills of Quantities for the Kiira Vehicle Plant start-up facilities (initial installed capacity 5,000 vehicles per annum) have been developed and approved by the relevant authorities,” according to KMC .

The Start-Up Facilities include the Assembly Shop and Plant Offices, Plant Circulation Roads, Power and Water Distribution Systems, Waste Management Facilities, Perimeter Fence and Gate Facilities, Drainage System and Whole Vehicle Test Facilities.
