Uganda will on Wednesday this week receive an additional 175,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the WHO/GAVI led COVAX facility.

According to the Ministry of Health spokesperson, Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the vaccines will reach the country at 10: 25 pm.

Uganda started vaccinating against COVID-19 in March this year following a donation of 864,000 doses of vaccines from the COVAX facility and another 100,000 from the Indian Government. As of today, 786, 160 people have been vaccinated.

Since last month, the demand for the vaccine spiked due to the increase in COVID-19 infection in the country.
