Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football club is struggling to recruit former Cranes player Patrick Ochan and Kenyan Deo Othieno before the season kicks off August 22.

With barely 10 days to go, URA FC head coach Alex Isabirye said many of his players are slow in their response to training and yet his efforts to reinforce with Ochan from TP Mazembe and Othieno from Rwanda’s Rayon Sport appear to hit a dead end.

URA FC released senior players Owen Kasule, Derrick Walulya, Evans Tugume and goalkeeper Allan Owiny and plans to strengthen with Ochan and Othieno among others to replace them.

“We have requested for their International Transfer Certificates but we are not getting any responses and yet my players are not catching up. I am not impressed with the rate at which the players are responding,” Isabirye, who returns to URA after a season said.

URA FC will open the league with a match against newly promoted Rwenshama football club at Namboole on August 22.

FUFA competitions director Ali Mwebe has just completed a seminar for all the Super League clubs in an online player registration system at FUFA House in Mengo.

On the other hand, FUFA is still looking to Sports Club Villa’s request to have the team shift its home ground to Mityana sports from Nakivubo stadium as earlier indicated. Coach Stephen Bogere’s Villa is another club still struggling to get to form before kick-off.

The Jogoos that are set to play Sports Club Victoria University on the opening day of the league are still recovering from a defeat in friendly match against Hoima combined recently.
