As FUFA sought to comply with new the National Council of Sports (NCS) statutes, the federation has also proposed new rules in Ugandan football as recommended by the global soccer governing body FIFA.

While at their extra-ordinary assembly that sat at its technical Centre in Njeru on Saturday, FUFA created a sixth arm of the federation and adopted community service as a possible disciplinary measure for any football player or official, who breaches rules of the game.

Apart from the AGM, executive committee, Secretariat, Adhoc committees and the judicial, the extra-ordinary assembly formally endorsed FUFA Limited and it will be managed by seven directors.

FIFA has advised FUFA to draw the directors from among executive committee members and they will be appointed and endorsed at the ordinary assembly due in Lira next month.

FUFA limited is the business arm of the federation that is the only one permitted to deal with corporate bodies engaged in football.

According to FUFA legal officer Alex Luganda, this will enable the federation to avoid the current confusion that appears to portray FUFA Limited as an independent federation.

“FUFA Limited has the mandate to deal with corporate bodies. That means it is the responsibility of FUFA Limited to deal with sponsors. Community Service is also looked at as a possible way of disciplinary measure that is added to current punishments in football,” Luganda explained after the assembly.
