Kenya beats Uganda to retain Elgon Cup

Kenya's second team has walloped Uganda rugby Cranes to retain the Elgon Cup. Rugby Cranes went into the tie riding on a 21-14 first leg home advantage played in Kampala at Kyadondo rugby club on July 12, 2014.

The Kenyans still fielded their 'A' side with hardly any changes from the outfit that played in Kampala.

Kenya A walloped the rugby Cranes 34-0 to retain the coveted trophy on a 48-21 aggregate.

Earlier the rugby Lady Cranes fell to their Kenyan counterparts, the Lionesses to lose the Elgon Cup trophy.

The ealry afternoon return leg played in Nairobi saw the Lady Cranes go into the tie as defending champions trailing 15-33 to the Lionesses after the first leg that was played in Kampala last weekend.

The Lady Cranes also faced a humiliating 39-10 defeat that saw the Lionesses take the trophy on a 72-25 aggregate.

The poor showing of the Lady Cranes was a far cry from the team that played against South Africa in a World Cup qualifier last year.

In the same breath the rugby Cranes U19 threw away a first leg 15-10 win over their Kenyan counterparts to lose the inaugral competition on an aggregrate of 37 -27.

The return leg o the Elgon Cup now puts Uganda's rugby back to the drawing board having thrown away home advantage wins.
