U-19 CAR 1B: August 26-31 in Kampala

The Rugby Cranes Under-19 team coach is not ready to face the humiliation the senior side faced in Tunisia when they lost 22-19 against Ivory Coast and then beaten 32-31 by Senegal, leading to their relegation to the CAR tier C.

Robert Sseguya has intensified the younger side’s preparation ahead of the Africa tournament to be hosted by Uganda in August at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

The local U-19 side will battle Madagascar, Morocco and Senegal in the campaign to return to tier 1A.

The continental elite pool has Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Tunisia.

“We have intensified our training and I don’t want any excuse, come the tournament. Any player who feels can’t handle the pressure now should leave,” Sseguya told his boys.

“Uganda’s pride is in your hands and you must go all your hearts out to win this tournament at home,” he said during the side’s training session mid-this week.
