Uganda Prisons Service has stepped up security measures at Luzira Maximum Prison to prevent convicts from escaping.

The security beef up follow the re-arrest of a one Moses Wagaba who had escaped from the prison 8 months ago. Wagaba was convicted of murder and robbery charges with pending rape cases.

Prisons Commissioner General, Dr Johnson Byabasaija said they installed more surveillance cameras, introduced new uniforms for proper identification of inmates and they are recruiting more staff among other measures.
