Education and Sports Minister, Jessica Alupo, has directed Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to forward names of cheating schools to her office for action.

"I direct UNEB to forward names of schools that have been persistently been sighted in malpractices, for action," Alupo said at the release of 2013 UCE results in Kampala on Tuesday.

The minister’s directive came after UNEB withheld results of over 1,800 candidates due to examination malpractices.

UNEB secretary, Mathew Bukenya, said candidates received assistance in mainly science practical papers.

"We have been having issues of cheating through bribery. We are going to fix this. We might even de-register some schools," Fagil the Monday, UNEB board chairperson said.

Alupo said selection of S.5 students will be conducted at Didis Amusement Park in Kampala on March 6 and 7. Students will report to school on March 17.

The released results indicate a drop in overall performance compared to the previous year.
