Former national soccer governing body (FUFA) president Lawrence Mulindwa has been appointed Cecafa vice chairman by the body’s head, Leodegar Tenga.


Mulindwa’s elevation comes after he was elected on the Cecafa executive in November last year with four others during a general assembly.

He stepped down as FUFA president last year after nine years at the helm of the local governing body.

His exit paved way for current president Moses Magogo to take over leadership of FUFA.

According to the appointment letter from Cecafa, Mulindwa took charge of his new role on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, FUFA has confirmed an international friendly between Uganda and Zambia set for next month.

The Uganda Cranes will play the Chipolopolo in an away encounter at Ndola stadium.

FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein said the federations of the two countries have agreed to the game.

The two national sides will play the game in the FIFA-gazetted period for friendlies on March 5.

FUFA CEO Edgar Watson lauded the Zambians for accepting the meet.

 “‘We are happy to have such a high profile friendly with one of the biggest teams on the continent. We are certain that it will help the coach test out his players against a good team” he said.

The squad that will represent Uganda will be announced as soon as it has been selected by the technical team.
