Sadolin Paints v Police

UGANDA Police FC will confront today’s Uganda Cup opponents Sadolin Paint without six first team players.

Defenders Jimmy Kulaba, Paul Dafa and midfielder Siraje Sevume have all deserted the club while Francis Olanya and Moses Kimuli have ruled out with knee injuries. Yasin Mubiru has a backache.

But team head coach Angelo Lonyesi has remained optimistic the available players will do the job in their Uganda Cup round of 64 match at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja.

Kulaba has vanished from the club after his intended transfer to URA FC was rejected. Dafa and Sevume have officially reported ill health for not turning up for training but Lonyesi said that the players are reportedly training with Kenyan giants Sofapaka FC.

"Our players cannot invest time to reason some actions that they take. Kulaba has absconded because he could not join URA FC. He has not even served a season on his new contract and he simply wants to jump to another club without question," Lonyesi explained of the long serving Police FC employee.

"May be they (players) don't know but they are Police officials and that is deserting the force. Those in Kenya can be deported. They can be arrested for deserting," he added.

All the three players were recently absorbed into the Uganda Police and Lonyesi said that the force was tracing their whereabouts to drag them back. Kulaba and Sevume have five-year running contracts each which were penned at the beginning of the season.

Last year, Police FC fell off 7-6 to URA after spot kicks in the round of 16 after regulation time ended goalless.
