Ten out of them made their first vocation after four years of training in the convent whereas 26 were renewing their vows after many years in sisterhood.

Four sisters who joined sisterhood both in 1949 and 1950 celebrated their diamond jubilee (60years). They included Sr. Maria Kizito Nambi, Sr. Maria Gorret Namuli, Sr. Maria Petro Namatovu and Sr. Maria Yoana Omuganzi Nakku. All, according to their care takers are said to be over 80 years old.

Others included four who celebrated their golden jubilee (50 years) and 14 who celebrated their silver jubilee (25 years).

The Archbishop of Kampala Diocese Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga graced the occasion together with Archbishop Michael Blume, the Pope’s representative in Uganda.

Lwanga asked parents to send more children to the convent to enable the church grow both in size and strength.

During his sermon, Blume urged the sisters to practice spiritual poverty which makes them merciful.

“It is something that the world needs, it helps us hunger and thirst for Jesus,” Blume said.
