Second round: Rubgy league is back
The second round of the Nile Special Premier Rugby League resumed Saturday.

The Nile Special Premier Rugby League resumes today with the second round that will have four matches.

Struggling G4S Pirates are up against Ezee Money Rhinos with a mission to make up for their 29-25 first round defeat.

Pirates’ stand-in team captain Eric Butime blamed the defeat on complacency, adding that the team is not ready to repeat the mistake.

“We also had a bad back-line but the return of Greg Lukendo in the centre, fly half Ivan Magomu and Isaac Rujumba has strengthened the team,” Butime stated after a training session Saturday.

He added,“I am confident that victory will come our way.”

New players ready to battle “We have got new players from schools and they are ready to handle the pressure.”

Butime said that the players had a feel of what it means to play in the top flight during the team’s last two games.

However, Pirates will miss the services of their lethal 8th man Marvin Odong who has not yet fully recovered from an injury. The Makerere University student is also preoccupied at the institute.

However, Rhinos club captain Martial Tchumcan said, “We are ready and are coming for victory.”

At the House of Pain in Entebbe, Sadolin Mongers will host defending champions and Kampala side MTN Heathens. 

DMark Kobs will face Mutoni Warriors at Legends Rugby Club while Toyota Buffaloes are pitted against visiting Lira Bulls, who are yet to win a game this season.

Kobs lead the table standing with 34 points, 6 better than Heathens. Fans for Elgon Cup A promotion will run alongside the league in which rugby fans in Uganda will get a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to watch the Elgon Cup in Nairobi later this year.

Transport and accommodation costs and pocket money for the travelling group will be catered for under the arrangement.

Nile Special brand manager Isaac Sekasi outlined specifics of the promotion. He said that for one to take part in the promotion, he or she needs to buy two Nile Special beer brand and enter a draw for a chance win.

Sekasi added that for every match played, there will be a winner. This will bring the total number of winners to 28.
