KMKM v KCCA FC
Simba SC (Tz) v AFC Leopards (Kenya)
KCCA FC coach George Nsimbe has warned that his city lads are in Zanzibar to compete and win the invitational annual Mapinduzi Cup.
KCCA, who were invited from Uganda together with URA FC, landed on the island yesterday and Nsimbe said his team will be out to win the cup.
He hopes to use the event to gauge the side for the second round of the FUFA Super League and the forthcoming CAF Champions League.
They are pitted against El Merrikh of Sudan in the preliminaries. The competition in Zanzibar kicks off tomorrow until January 13 at Amani and Gombani stadiums.
KCCA will open their campaign against KMKM FC and Nsimbe (pictured) said that, “We have come here to compete and win the Cup. Remember we are looking at a bigger stage on the continent. So we can only match that stage if we won here.”
But KCCA and URA FC will not find bed of roses in Zanzibar as all the invited clubs are highly rated in the region.
These include FC Combine and Chuoni FC (Zanzibar), Tusker FC (Kenya), Young Africans, Mbeya City and defending champions Azam FC (Tanzania).
