Africa Nations Championship

Uganda v Burkina Faso (Jan 12)

AFTER watching Morocco’s Raja Casablanca take on German giants Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup final, Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic feels the North Africans will be Uganda’s toughest puzzle in CHAN.

“Compared with us, we are underdogs to our opponents. Everyone who saw Raja (Casablanca) play will know that they are a serious team. Every player on that squad will be on the Morocco team,” Micho declared soon after the Moroccan outfit had lost 2-0 to Bayern.

Uganda Cranes is in Group B alongside Burkina Faso, Morocco and Zimbabwe. They will play their first match of the championships against the Burkinabe at Athlone Stadium on January 12 and face Morocco in their last group match.

Morocco are expected to assemble Raja Casablanca’s first team stars such as goalkeeper Khalid Askri, Zakaria El Hachimi, Adil Karrouchy, Issam Erraki, Abdelilah Hafi di, Mohsine Moutaouali and Mouhssine Iajour.

Cranes will resume training at Namboole stadium today without goalkeeper Brian Bwete Tom Masiko, Ismail Kazibwe and Oscar Agaba. The four have been dropped.

Bwete, who had been called to add competition in the goalkeeping area, had just trained for a day.
