President Yoweri Museveni has met and held a bilateral discussion with his Nigerian counterpart President Goodluck Jonathan at the Nigerian State House Villa in the Capital Abuja. The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest to the two countries.

The President who arrived in Abuja Tuesday evening for a three-day working visit at the invitation of President Goodluck was received at Nnandi Azikiwe International airport by the Nigerian State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed.

Others at the airport to receive the President were the Ugandan minister for Regional Cooperation Asumani Kiyingi, Ugandan High Commissioner to Nigeria Kagimu Kiwanuka and other diplomats from African countries accredited to Nigeria.

During his stay in Nigeria the President will give a public lecture on the topic “Education and National Development, an African Perspective” to the Nigerian Institute of advanced and legal studies.

Cooperation between the two countries is growing stronger with over 1000 Nigerian tourists visiting Uganda since January last year and Nigerian investments growing.

Recently Uganda and Nigeria signed a three-year agreement of cooperation in the oil and gas industry which covers human resource training, technological transfer, joint projects and offering support on evaluation of the crude oil.
