Tamiz Sangham City Tyres Badminton Tournament
UGANDA’S top seed Wilson Tukire is likely to face a very stiff challenge in the on-going Tamiz Sangham City Tyres badminton tournament at the MTN Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The three-day event that started yesterday has attracted a number of foreign players that include Kenyan and Tanzania’s top seeds Victor Odera and Hanatali Nawiko respectively. The pair have always given Tukire a run for his money in most of the international outings.
The event ending tomorrow, according to Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) head coach Simon Mugabi, will go into history as one of the events on the local scene that has attracted East Africa’s best.
“It’s been a long time since we had top badminton stars in East Africa playing on the same court on the local scene and it will require courage and endurance for Tukire to retain the title,” Mugabi explained.
The event has also attracted 10 other Kenyans, bringing the total number of participants to over 100.
