NKUMBA came from a goal down to beat Kampala University 2-1 and delay crowning of the University Football League champions handing the Ggaba side their first defeat of the season in 13 matches.
Matthew Odong controlled the ball with his chest in the box and powerfully drove the ball past goalkeeper Ronald Mutebi to put Kampala University into the lead in first half stoppage time.
In the second half, two goals courtesy of Vincent Onyango in the 69th minute and Shakur Makeera’s three minutes to full time turned tables at Villa Park.

Makeera took advantage of a goalmouth melee to snatch the ball from Kampala University goalkeeper Sulaiman Zziwa and score to send Nkumba fans at Villa Park into uncontrollable jubilation.
“I have told you I want to win the trophy and no will stop Nkumba from that ambition. Makerere cannot win at home. Tell them to come over for a beating,” Nkumba coach Patrick Ssebuliba said after their victory.
The result means Kampala University (32points) must win their last game against Mbarara away to take the trophy otherwise a win for Nkumba (31points) against Makerere in Entebbe will see Ssebuliba’s side claim the title.
