At the beginning of this week, thousands of Born Again Christians gathered at Victory Christian Church in Ndeeba to dedicate Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and his reign to God.
The Katikkiro arrived at the church at around 11:00am in the company of his wife, Buganda ministers and other cultural leaders.
During the prayer service which was presided over by Dr. Joseph Serwadda and Bishop Joshua Lwere along other pastors, the Pentecostal leaders asked the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi to rededicate Buganda to God.
Giving various examples of great empires that emerged and collapsed, Bishop Lwere said Buganda lost its glory because of rebelling against God.
Lwere, the overseer of National Fellowship of Born Again Pentecostal Churches, elaborated that the sins of bloodshed, witchcraft/sorcery and sexual promiscuity defile land and cause the glory of God to depart from a community.
“When Mutesa I invited missionaries to Buganda and dedicated the kingdom to God, God blessed Buganda but when we failed to walk in the principles and values of God we lost our glory. We therefore ask the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi to rededicate Buganda to God and outlaw divination (Obusamize),” Lwere told the Katikkiro.
He gave the example of the East African Revival which was embraced in western Uganda but rejected in Buganda as the springboard for the current blessings and power the people from western Uganda are enjoying.
Bishop Lwere said Buganda’s glory will only be restored if the Kabaka commits the Kingdom to God and detaches it from all ungodly cultural practices which do not glorify God.
Dr. Joseph Serwadda anointed the Katikkiro and prayed that God would give him the wisdom and prophetic revelations which Biblical premiers like Joseph and Daniel had.

He requested the Katikkiro to add his voice to the call upon government to release all the prisoners as the Bible requires before the jubilee season ends on October 9, 2013.
Dr. Serwadda also asked the Katikkiro to re-examine the regional tier and make improvements in it so that Buganda can be granted a substantive federal government.
In his speech, the Katikkiro, who appreciated the Balokole for the glorious prayer service they had organized for him, explained that the reason they rejected the regional tier is because it did not give the kingdom economic autonomy as it would always have to depend on handouts from the central government.
The other two reasons Mayiga gave for Buganda’s rejection of the regional tier was the creation of an elected Katikkiro and keeping districts under the central government.
Emphasizing the importance of fearing God and trusting him, Mayiga reechoed what he said in his first address to the Lukiiko that the two major weapons he would use in his reign are God and the Kabaka’s subjects.
Dr. Serwadda donated a Bible to the premier and advised him to always read it for wisdom and guidance in his leadership.
In a replicated gesture, Mayiga presented gifts to the pastors to thank God for entrusting him with leadership as the Katikkiro of Buganda.
