KAMPALA - Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed in a city fire that gutted a building in Bugolobi in Kampala’s industrial area on Saturday.
The fire, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, razed the building housing Sign Care Limited Company which deals in outdoor advertising.
Some four printers, computers, paint and other equipment belonging to the company were reduced to scrap in the inferno, one worker said.
It took more than one hour to put out the harsh fire despite the presence of seven water tanks put to use at the scene.

The battered building developed cracks and debris came crashing down from the structure. Mighty flames and clouds of smoke billowed out of the building as volunteers battled the fire.
At some point, they had looked as though they had given up the fight, but they struggled on.
Police fire brigade men arrived at the scene an hour later when much of the fire had been put out.
It is understood the fire started in the middle of the building and quickly spread to other parts. The workers who were in the building at the time said it was caused by an electric spark.
