Musinguzi Andrew in Kibaale
A 37-year-old man in Kijungu village, Kagadi sub-county was found dead – fatally speared – at his home in the western district of the country.
The officer-in-charge at Kagadi Police Station, Joseph Ayesiga identified the deceased as Asiimwe Joseph.
His wife, Nanyonjo Pulikeria told Police that unknown assailants invaded their home at around 8.00 am local time on Saturday as they had their breakfast.
The attackers then speared her husband twice in the chest and abdomen, killing him instantly.
Pulikeria made an alarm and was just in time to flee for safety. By the time their neighbours got to the scene, the killers had long fled.
Police, along with sniffer dogs, immediately pursued them, but by Sunday morning there are no reports yet that they have been found.
Their motive remains unclear.
But according to the CID Kagadi Police Station, Douglas Anguo, preliminary investigations reveal that it was a revenge attack that was inspired by land wrangles involving the deceased.
No arrests have been made yet.
Asiimwe’s body was taken to Kagadi Hospital for an autopsy.
