JONAN Turigye shot back to fame after beating Joseph Mutaawe to win the Nile Special Open National championship at Lugogo Saturday.
The victory heralded the former two-time champion-earning him the top prize of a car, sh2m and a pool table.
The Takers Pool Club kingpin displayed cool nerves with marvellous shorts as he cruised in the Nile Special sponsored event.
Turigye, who won the event in 2008 and 2010, kept the tempo as he took on Mutaawe.
Mutaawe who saw off Emmanuel Ociti of Gulu in the last four, drew the first blood as he took the first frame. But the champion clawed back with articulate shots to the uproar of the packed Lugogo indoor stadium.
After taking a 3-1 lead, Turigye never looked back as he surged to his third title. His triumph upset the order as the top eight seeds were shown the exit in the quarterfinals.
Like other top seeds, defending champion and top seed Alfred Gumiikiriza fell in the quarterfinal 4-3 to rising star in Fahad Ssewankambo.
