A couple of Bulo-Katooke in Butambala district has been remanded on charges of aggravated torture to a child.
Peter Kasoma and Betty Nalwanda Nalongo Kasoma were arrested over the torture of a nine-year old girl by keeping her in pig sty and feeding her with pigs.
They will appear before Kibibi magistrate’s court to answer charges of aggravated torture to a child.
The couple, who denied abusing a child’s rights, tortured Patricia Nakirya Kasoma, whom Kasoma fathered with another woman, Hope Nammande.
The Police told court presided over by Grade One Magistrate Derry Muhumuza that Nalwadda and Kasoma were keeping Nakirya under lock and key with their pigs in the sty for over nine months and subjected her to sharing food with the animals.
The Court further heard that Nakirya was rescued by members of Justice and Peace, an organisation under Kampala Archdiocese, following a tipoff by some good Samaritans in the neighbourhood.
Following her rescue, Nakirya was on Friday admitted at Mild-May Hospital, Lweza near Kajjansi along Entebbe Road in Wakiso district, where she is undergoing treatment.
She was found in critical condition; she was paralyzed into deformity, unable to walk by herself and visibly withdrawn.
