Police in Mbarara have arrested 10 people including Jovia Karuhanga, the first wife of Daniel Karuhanga, 87, who was murdered together with five others at his home at Kacumbiro village, Kenshunga Sub-county in Kiruhura district.
Karuhanga and his workers, Bernard Ntwirenabo, 20, Naboth Turyahabwe, 20, Kenneth Timuzigu, 20, Eldard Tumwine ,52 and Alex Turyamureeba, 20, were attacked and murdered by assailants at his second wife's home at Kacumburo village on Friday night.
Karuhanga's second wife, Joyce Kabushaho and her four-months-old baby were the only survivors in the attack. The assailants also took the deceased's vehicle a Toyota Spacio UAR 517H and sh100, 000.
Norman Musinga, the Kiruhura District Police commander told mourners on Monday during Karuhanga's burial at Kacumbiro village that two sniffer dogs from Kiruhura and Mbarara Police tracked and led police to some suspects' homes.
The other people arrested include Karuhanga’s children with his first wife; John Musiime, Grace Nuwamanya alias Kyakabale, a lawyer, Alice Nayebare also a lawyer and Enid Akankunda an in-law.
Others are Jolly Akandwanaho, Monic Akankunda, Nathan Nuwasira, the deceased's first wife's driver, Peninah Mbabazi and Brenda Akankunda who are both domestic workers.
