Innocent Tegusulwa is the fiery and energetic sports presenter on Bukedde Radio/TV. Carol Kasujja asked him about his two loves.
Innocent, besides presenting sports, what else can you do?
Sports is just a passion, but given an opportunity, I can read news. I am also a prominent businessman in my village. You will excuse me, I am not going to tell you what kind of business it is.
You are a tall handsome man with a lovely voice. Are you married?
It depends on what you call marriage. I am in an advanced relationship. Very soon my wife-to-be Rossete Atukunda will introduce me to her parents. I have been studying her, but now I feel it is the right time for her to take me home.
You have dated many girls. How did you know that she was the right one?
I felt different with her. I found myself sharing with her things I had kept away from other girls. With others, I had to struggle to make a point, but with her, everything was natural. There is nothing she wanted to change about me.
Before, girls would tell me to change the way I talk. The thought of marrying her does not scare me. She is the one.
If you had a dinner date with your wife and Uganda Cranes was playing at Namboole, where would you go?
To be honest with you, for the sake of our relationship, I would go for the Uganda Cranes game. Even if I decided to go for the dinner, I would spend most of my time on my phone checking for updates. And to make matters worse, if I hear any noise, I would run away from her.
You are one of the best sports gamblers; do you also gamble in your relationship?
Gambling involves taking risks. I cannot take a risk in my relationship. I respect and love my wife-to-be so much that I would not want to do anything to annoy her. I am kind of old school; I date one woman at a time. When she goes, I get another one. Faithful men are still there.
Would you watch a football game in a kibanda with your wife?
No, when I am watching football, I am in another skin. I can abuse, fight, undress, cry and shout if anything goes wrong. I would not want my wife to see that side of me. Football makes me weak.
You are talkative. Why don’t you become a pastor or a politician?
In future, I will go back to school and study law. If I fail to get the money, I will become a motivational speaker. Right now, I read a lot of motivational books.
Kampala Sun said that when you are presenting, you sound like you are quarrelling.
That is true. Presenting sports is not like you are presenting a love or a church programme, you have to express feelings. When I am doing sports I become emotional. Sports is about opinions. You have to push your point for people to buy it.
