If the Buzz gigs aren’t the coolest thing that has happened to the Ugandan teen, then KCCA has the right to restrict any more teen gigs in this nation! For today’s Buzz Teenies Awards, Buzz brings you Lil Wayne’s official tour DJ, DJ 4our 5ive.

This turntable spin maestro hails from the home of modern day hip hop, beat box and DJ’ing, the Bronx in New York. Born LeeSmith Kenyon, like every other celebrity who has Drake’s, Started from the bottom as their theme song, DJ 4our 5ive grew up in the ghetto around Bronx River Projects where Afrika Bambaataa and Zulu Nation did their thing.

This is where he first witnessed DJs and rappers showcase their mad steez. His pal’s brother had a turntable in his garage. It was here that 4our 5ive stealthily made his scratch debut that eventually turned him into the much respected DJ.

4our 5ive got his very first turntable on his 12th birthday. Little did he know that he and the gadget would stick together for life. Years later, his family relocated to Brentwood, New York, where he began mastering turntables when  he and his boys started a DJ crew called Freeze Force. He assumed the name DJ K-La Boss and together with his crew set out to play at local gigs and house parties.

4our 5ive’s talent created a buzz that caught the attention of the rap duo, EPMD, who later paid him to scratch on their debut album, Strictly Business, released in 1988.

His success with EPMD led to collaborations with high school friend, Craig Mack and Bad Boy Entertainment.  Building on the momentum of the Grammy nominated, Flava in Ya Ear single, 4our 5ive perfected his talent during the Big Mack tour as the premier DJ. He went on to be the official DJ for the 1994 Bad Boy tour which included: Total, Craig Mack, Junior M.A.F.I.A, Lil’ Kim and The Notorious B.I.G.

Throughout the 90s, he was busy producing music, touring, and captivating audiences with his skills on the turntables. This guy has toured with Mase to promote the multi-platinum debut album Harlem World. He toured with Lil Cease on his Solo Project, and Lil Kim on her Notorious K.I.M and La Bella Mafia albums.  He also worked with Untertainment Records comprised of Charli Baltimore, Cam’Ron, and Jim Jones.

In 1999 4our 5ive’s scratches were featured on P. Diddy’s Forever album. 4our 5ive continues to work with Diddy on various projects. His transition into the new millennium came with more success and greater opportunities to showcase his talent.

In 2001, he spun the turntables for P. Diddy’s United We Stand concert, as well as Diddy’s 2002 televised performance during MTV’s Staying Alive HIV/AIDS benefit concert.

He became a sought-after DJ working with Hip Hop artist Fabolous on a number of projects such as; Roc The Mic tour in 2003, BET, Rip the Runway and others featuring Ne-Yo and the Boost Mobile Rock Corps.

He worked with Pop artiste Jojo on the Teen Choice Awards, Orange Bowl Patch Beach Bash in 2004, and Jojo’s performance on MTV’s TRL. He served as the Music Director for the Rock and Roll Olympic Gymnastics tour in 2005.

DJ 4our 5ive has a large catalogue of mix tapes and won a mix-tape award at Justo’s Eighth Annual Mixtape Awards in 2003. His ability to  spin for diverse audiences simply adds to his impressive resume. 4our 5ive has remained relevant through his ability to fuse old school Hip Hop skills with today’s evolving rap.

His recent credits include; spinning for VH1 Storytellers featuring Jay Z, teaming up with EPMD on their latest album We Mean Business, touring with Fabolous to promote the new album Loso’s Way, touring with highly regarded, multi-platinum recording artiste Lil’ Wayne during his recent I Am Music tour and performing with Lil’ Wayne during the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. His ‑first touchdown on African soil will be for today’s BUZZ Teenies Awards at a pocket damage of 10k for an ordinary ticket and 15k for V.I.P at Kati Kati! Be there
