A woman was brutally murdered when unknown assailants cut of her breasts and lips and fled with them.

The shocking incident took place at Kigenya village, Kyotera, Rakai district.

The deceased, 52-year old Jane Nakalanzi went missing on March 9, when she went to pick food from Kiwoomya village near Kaliisizo. Her mutilated body was discovered in a bush by a herdsman a week after her disappearance.

A son to the deceased, Joseph Lubega, said since he did not live with his mother he could not account for the incident.

Shocked residents said Nakalanzi was a peaceful person and did not have misunderstandings with anyone in the area. The said she had been nicknamed 'grandmother' because of her kindness and suspect that her murder could have been a ritual sacrifice.

The incident has caused tension and panic in the same measure because several chidlren use the route where the deceased stayed while going to school. What is even more disturbing is that the deceased could have been murdered in broad day light when she had gone to the garden.

Worried residents have asked the Police boss, Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura, to beef up security in the district and investigate the incident thoroughly.

Horrifying murders have recently rocked Rakai and police investigations have so far not yielded much.

The Kyotera police boss, Patrick Maikula, appealed to residents who might have a clue as to what happened to the deceased to forward the information as investigations take place.
