3 dead, scores injured as lorry rams into crowd in Kampala

At least three people died on the spot and several others were Monday morning rushed to Mulago hospital, some in critical condition after a Fuso lorry UAK 810J carrying a tractor 'caterpillar' failed to brake at the Bwaise flyover.


Police said the truck was descending towards Bwaise from Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road when it failed to brake and hit several vehicles and motorcycles.

The police identified the dead as Francis Ssekivumbi, the LC1 chairman for Nakaseke and two unidentified people.

The injured included Byamukama a resident of Nabweru, Iga Miisi of Lugoba, Wasswa Richard, abodaboda rider from kawanda stage, Deogratious Kyesuluta from Kazo, Tom Nsibambi from Kazo, Onwech from Namuwongo and Babirye Irene of Kawanda.

Others are Orweny Joramu from Kawempe, Kigongo Yosamu from Kagoma, Ouma Bernard from Kibuli, Nassimbwa amina of Kazo, ssentongo Adam of Kyambogo and Kaboggoza from Namungoona.
