THE Jomayi Rally Team Ronald Ssebuguzi in a Mitsubishi Evo9 has won the Freedom City Challenge Rally.

Ssebuguzi navigated by Cedric Buzabo clocked one hour 20.57 minutes, beating second placed Mangat by about two and half minutes.

Ssebuguzi and Mangat who dropped out of the Mbarara Rally last month are back in contention for the national championship.

Ponsiano Lwakataka claimed the third podium position to remain top in the national championship standings with 160 points, 40 ahead of Christakis Fitidis who finished fifth and 50 clear of Duncan Mubiru who was fourth.

Arthur Blick, Shafiq Ssemujju, Ahmed Ashraf and Omar Mayanja were sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.

Nasser Mutebi, Wycliff Bukenya and John Conta were some of the major casualties as 10 of 26 crews dropped out of the race.

The national championship is left with five races now.
