2014 World Cup qualifier

March 24

Liberia    v   Uganda

AFTER seven months of impressive perfoprmances in Portugal’s Segunda Liga club Leixoes, Luwagga Kizito has finally been rewarded with a recall to the Cranes team.

However, the 19 year-old player will have to challenge the likes of  Tonny Mawejje, Mudde Musa, Godfrey Kizito and Hassan Wasswa for a first team place as Uganda prepares to confront Liberia in their 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier in Monrovia on March 24.

Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson, who announced a squad of 25 on Friday, said that he could not ignore Luwagga, who claimed his first cap during Uganda’s 2-1 loss to Egypt in a friendly last year.

“Luwagga is doing very well in Portugal. It is time for him to join the senior team. If he does well in training, he will make it to the final team. This is how every player joins the national team and I wish him well,” Williamson said.

Uganda is second (two points) behind table leaders Senegal on four points.
