Shock gripped Kyabagoma Muslim Primary School at Mwalo village, in Bukomansimbi district, when lightning struck dead two teachers, including 30-year-old Karim Kisseka who was in class.

The New Vision learnt that the other teacher, Joseph Mukasa, who was a Primary Five teacher died shortly after admission at Masaka Hospital.

Another teacher identified as Trinity Musoke who was taking shelter in the staff room is still admitted in Masaka hospital.

A total of eight pupils were also admitted at Masaka Hospital.   Sources from Masaka hospital told New Vision that pupils are recovering.

“We suddenly heard a thunderous bang while studying. The next thing we saw was the teacher dead on the ground with his shirt torn into pieces,” Steven Kyoma, a P.5 pupil said.

The Southern Regional Police Spokesman, Noah Sserunjongi said the Police ambulance quickly evacuated the injured.

Reported cases of death by lightning have been common in mostly the western parts of Uganda
