The minister for relief and disaster preparedness Dr Stephen Malinga has said the ministry has run out of funds to support victims of disaster and tackle the several disaster outbreaks.
"We have run out of money," Malinga admitted.
He was responding to MPs who said he was not supporting their constituents who have recently experienced hailstorms which destroyed houses, schools, gardens and other properties.
Malinga's responses that not all disasters require the government intervention drew the wrath of MPs.
"Some constraints don't need government intervention. Some people have existed without the government intervention.”
He explained that when schools were blown off, or health centers broken down, it was the ministry of education and that of health, respectively, that should tackle the problem and not his ministry.
He said his ministry's task is limited to providing emergency feeding such as posho, beans and other basic items to disaster victims.
Milton Muwuma (Kigulu South) told Parliament that hailstorms had hit his constituency in Iganga district and other parts of the country.
The legislator said that despite following procedure in writing to the ministry of disaster, the district officials together with their area MPs had received no support from the disaster.
'It is like a privilege to get support from the ministry of disaster. I had similar experiences in the past and I got no support. I am very angry. It is not good for leaders to be angry but I am angry," he confessed.
