The rally crew of Leila Mayanja and Faridah Ndagire has vowed to be among the top five finishers in the Freedom City Rally Challenge due next month (March 8-10).

The BIDCO sponsored crew affirmed their determination in an interview after the launch of the Freedom City at Najjanakumbi on Monday morning.

“Winning the Mbarara rally is not God given that you will win every day. We are also competitors and we are not ready for any position outside the top five despite all the penalties we get because of our car not being homologated,” Leila stated.

“We finished 10th in the Mbarara Rally but this time we have to be fifth or higher.” she stressed.

The rally organised by Southern motor club will have a total of 148.4kms of which 143kms are competitive.

The event which is the second on the National Rally Championship (NRC) calendar will start with a super special stage at Garuga on Saturday March 9, before covering the areas of Mukono, Wakiso and Luwero on Sunday.

The event is sponsored by Freedom city, Fire and Safety Appliances and Sema properties.

Ten drivers including Ponsiano Lwakataka, Edson Mungereza, Arthur Blick Junior, Ismail Ortega and Woi Lule among others have confirmed participation.

Registration is going on at Freedom City and Lugogo at the National Council of Sports and closes on Saturday March 2.
