Sheema district woman MP Rosemary Nyakikongoro is nursing injuries after she got involved in a motor accident that nearly claimed her life Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at 10am, at Kibure in Katende along Masaka Road in Mpigi district when the car registration number UAJ 434X in which Nyakikongoro together with her nephew and the driver were traveling in veered off the road as they were dodging an oncoming over speeding vehicle.

Nyakikongoro, who was traveling from Kampala to Sheema district, got a serious deep cut on her left leg while her nephew Simon Manye and driver David Kibatenda survived with serious bruises.

The MP together with her team was first rushed to Mulago hospital after which they were later transferred to Nakesero Hospital for special medical attention.

“I am feeling much better now and I am recovering very well. I got a deep cut and one of my toes was fractured,” Nyakikongoro told New Vision in a telephone interview.

Nyakikongoro attributed the accident to an over speeding car that was trying to overtake them as they tried to negotiate the potholes at Katende.

However the OC Traffic Mpigi district Abdul Gamar said the accident was as a result of reckless driving by both drivers.

“The MPs’ car tried to overtake a FUSO lorry but realized that there was an oncoming car Toyota Regius which refused to give way making Nyakikongoro’s driver to lose control,” said Gamar.

The other Vehicle which was involved in the accident is registration Number UAP 200G Toyota Regius.it was traveling from Masaka to Kampala.  Ends.
