UGANDA'S prolific net-buster Geoffrey Massa has returned from another injury lay-off determined to inspire Uganda to her first away World Cup qualifying victory against Liberia.

If his scoring return against Lefke in the Northern Cyprus League was not substantial evidence then his hat-trick in the 4-3 win over Lapta on Tuesday all but proved that.

“I feel much better now. It has been a long process for me to get where I am. I have had to work closely with my club physiotherapists over the last few weeks and I am grateful for their support in helping me recover,” Massa said yesterday.

Massa’s injury troubles on his right knee have been persistent over the last three months.

The 26-year-old was forced to withdraw from Uganda’s Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia in the later stages of this particular game after helping the Cranes to a precious 1-0 lead due to continuous pains around his knee.

He flew back to Cyprus where he had since been undergoing treatment.

Although Massa has returned mid-way the season, he is more than determined to replicate his previous season’s scintillating form where he claimed the top scorer’s boot with 29 goals.

“I want to continue working hard. I want to win some silverware for the club this season and I believe I can achieve this if I can remain injury free,” Massa pointed.

Yenicami are currently second on the table with 38 points, a point behind table leaders Cetinkaya.
